General Description

This position will assist students working in the VPAC Video Editing Lab during open lab hours. Some time may also be spent in the recording studio.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Maintain posted office hours for student lab.

Assist students using the lab by offering help with computers.

Be able to do routine troubleshooting on editing software and computers. Notify Macintosh computer lab tech if any computers/software are having problems.

Assist Editing Lab Supervisor as needed.

Assist the Equipment co-ordinator/manager as needed.

Assist the student equipment manager as needed.

Follow all the rules and policies established by the DCP Video Editing and Sound recording labs.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall OR Spring semester OR enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.

OR

Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.

AND

Must have successfully completed DCP (or FVP) 1214.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This editing lab assistant needs a command of AVID editing software, and a knowledge of other editing software programs such as Final Cut and Adobe Premiere. Also this editing lab assistant needs to have a working knowledge of ProTools, our sound editing software.

Must be able to communicate and work well with others.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and DCP Video Editing and Sound recording labs to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to faculty, staff and students to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to work on equipment in DCP Video Editing and Sound recording labs.

This position requires the person to occasionally use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull and/or lift materials or equipment.

This position frequently requires the person to operate and inspect DCP Video Editing and Sound recording equipment to instruct students on proper operation.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor classroom, lab or office setting.
