General Description

The Evening Clerical Assistant has the primary responsibility of contacting graduates by telephone to complete surveys during the evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and/or Saturdays (10:00 am – 2:00 pm). The person is also responsible for providing support to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in the area of word processing, assembling mailings, and entering survey results on excel.

Contact graduates and employers by telephone to complete surveys.

Entering survey results in an excel spreadsheet.

Perform clerical duties such as typing, sorting, assembling, copying, and filing.

Prepare large mailings including making labels, affixing labels, stuffing envelopes, and sorting.

Deliver materials to offices within the institution.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.

OR

Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, former students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word
