General Description

The Continuing Education Instructor will be responsible for instructing adults from age 15 and up. The subject matter will be determined by the instructor and the Coordinator of Community Education and will be designed to enrich the students’ knowledge and well-being. The instructor will also be asked to maintain a safe and healthy environment in order for optimum learning, whether the instruction takes place in the classroom or on a field trip.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Develop organized daily lesson plans and curriculum for the specific discipline for which the instructor is responsible.

Plan, organize, and set up a variety of activities relating to the specific discipline or topic.

Arrange for guest speakers and field trips.

Maintain a safe and healthy classroom.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree

AND

Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in at least one relevant area of program instruction;

OR

A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in relevant areas of program instruction.

Relevant areas of program instruction include, but are not limited to: math; reading; English composition; curriculum development/instruction.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office/classroom equipment and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and/or fingers.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, classroom or office setting.
