General Description

The Temporary, Part-Time, Student Assistant will assist with the daily activities of Technology Support Services. The schedule of hours to be observed by the Assistant will vary according to the Assistant’s class schedule.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Assist with the daily activities of Technology Support Services.

Creation of Help Desk tickets

Data entry

Answering phones and taking messages

Assisting students with login and other questions

Assist with inventory management

Equipment check-out and check-in

Other duties as assigned

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the fall/spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the summer semester.

OR

Current OCCC student with a federal work study award.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.

Knowledge of records administration and maintenance techniques and procedures.

Data entry with minimal errors.

Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.

Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.

Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

Skill in talking to others to convey information effectively.

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of fingers, hands, and/or wrists.

This position requires the person to occasionally position self to work on equipment, to assist customers, and to perform the essential functions of the position.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
